MPs lobby to keep solicitors out of pleural plaques scheme

A group of Labour MPs is lobbying the government to exclude solicitors from a proposed scheme to compensate workers for asbestos-related pleural plaques.If the Damages (Asbestos-Related Conditions) Bill, which had a first reading in the House of Lords on 10 October 2009, is passed, it would treat some asbestos-related conditions as actionable personal injuries.
